What is National Lottery Cinema Weekend?

National Lottery Cinema Weekend is an event from Camelot and the BFI to celebrate the National Lottery's support for film, and to provide support for UK cinemas by offering National Lottery players a pair of cinema tickets on either 19th or 20th June 2021.

How will National Lottery Cinema Weekend take Covid into account?

National Lottery Cinema Weekend is planned on the basis that Covid restrictions allow the majority of cinemas to be open. We will be regularly reviewing this based on the latest Government guidelines.
All participating cinemas will be expected to follow Government Covid-19 guidelines and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their customers and staff is prioritised.

How do I claim my free pair of tickets?

When booking is open at www.cinemaweekend.co.uk on Wednesday 16th June, you will be able to select a cinema. The majority of cinemas will be using a booking code system where after registering you will receive a booking code (one per ticket) to use at the cinema’s website to book tickets for a screening.

If the cinema you select is not using booking codes, you will be asked to select a screening to reserve tickets for. After registering you will receive the reservation details which you will need to take to the cinema’s box office to receive your cinema ticket(s).

To receive a booking code or reservation, you will be required to register and enter details of a valid National Lottery ticket, instant win game or scratchcard purchased since 1st January 2019.

Further details will be provided during the registration and booking process from 16th June.

Can I claim a free ticket at the cinema?

No, you can only claim your free ticket(s) via www.cinemaweekend.co.uk. Cinemas will not be able to issue a free cinema ticket unless you have received a booking code or reservation via www.cinemaweekend.co.uk.

Do I have to show my National Lottery ticket at the cinema?

No, you do not need to take your National Lottery ticket or proof or purchase to the cinema venue.

Can I claim more than a pair of tickets?

No, the event provides a maximum of a pair (two) tickets for any individual National Lottery player.

Can I claim a cinema ticket for another day?

No, free adult cinema tickets are only available on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th June 2021.

Can I claim a ticket for a child?

Free cinema tickets are only available to National Lottery players. You can purchase tickets directly from the cinema (subject to availability and age restrictions).

Until 21st April 2021, this meant being 16 and over. From the 22nd April, players must be 18 or over to play any National Lottery games. This is in line with the government’s decision to raise the legal minimum age of play.

To apply for a pair of tickets for National Lottery Cinema Weekend requires the reference number from any National Lottery ticket, instant win game or scratchcard bought after 1st January 2019. Therefore, National Lottery players must be aged 16 or over if the National Lottery ticket or game was purchased from 1st January 2019 until 21st April 2021. If the National Lottery ticket or game was purchased after 22nd April 2021, players must be aged 18 or over.

How do I change my booking?

Your ticket reservation will have details of how to cancel a reservation. You can then reserve alternative tickets, subject to availability.

What if my local cinema is not listed on the website?

The website will be updated regularly as more cinemas join. The final list of participating cinemas will be displayed when the website opens for bookings on Wednesday 16th June 2021.

Not every cinema in the UK will be participating, as some cinemas will not be open, or have chosen not to participate.

Can I claim a free ticket if I don’t play The National Lottery?

No, this offer is only available to National Lottery players.

How will my data be handled?

When you register to book tickets, your data will be handled by See Film First Ltd (the company managing the website) according to their Privacy Policy.

If you are given a booking code to use to book tickets at a cinema, any data you submit to book on the cinema’s website will be handled according to that cinema’s data privacy policies.
